My experience
My mother was diagnosed with early-onset dementia when I was 34. Over the next seven years, I became her primary caregiver while raising two kids and working full-time. I learned the hard way — through burnout, resentment I wasn't proud of, and eventually a kind of peace — how to hold caregiving and my own life at the same time.
How I can help
I talk with people who are in the thick of it: managing a parent's or spouse's decline, navigating the guilt of needing a break, or trying to figure out long-term care decisions. I don't have clinical answers, but I've lived the day-to-day of it longer than most people ever have to.
